Accommodation and Welfare

The Accommodation and Welfare team assist you to find advice and support on accommodation and financial matters. The staff will continue to support students remotely during normal working hours. For accommodation support please email or leave a message on 091 492364.

The Chaplaincy service offers pastoral care and spiritual guidance to the students and staff of NUI Galway.
The Chaplaincy Service is available to support students and staff remotely during normal working hours and outside of working hours, when required. The Chaplaincy Office on 6 Distillery Road is closed at present. However, we can be contacted as follows:

NUI Galway Student Counselling is continuing to operate, remotely online or by phone. For all current users of the Student Counselling Service we are continuing to offer counselling online.

Access Centre provides support for students participating on access programmes, students with disabilities and mature students.

Access Programmes

Diploma in Foundation Studies (DFS) classes are now reorganised to a different format. We will deliver much of the remainder of this content through our online virtual learning environment, Blackboard.
Programme coordinators and tutors will be in contact with students with regard to accessing the remaining course content and any alternative assessments.

Mature Students Office

There is a dedicated MS Team for Mature Students to communicate with Trish Bourke should you need to chat. She is free for chats Monday mornings from 9.30am to 11am. You can download a MS Teams app to your smartphone or use the web. Just click here  and request to join.
Trish will have a conversation with you one at a time. You may need to wait until one conversation is over so that she can then invite you to speak with her. You are not alone! You will by now have received information on exams and supports. Please refer to these for information that you need. Trish is here to support and listen, and can point you in the direction of help that you may need.

HEAR/ACCESS/FE Undergraduates

Please contact us with any concerns that you may have as we approach exam time.

Please be reassured that the access team are here to help where possible.  Staff are still working remotely to ensure that students are assisted and supported where possible. We are not in a position to monitor voice messages and please be aware that staff have limited access to emails. We will   respond to your query as soon as is possible. Disability Support Service

Contact the Disability Support Service and access disability related support during the closure.

Please note that we will not be monitoring voicemails, but will endeavour to respond remotely to contact via the following:

•  If you are a student who is already registered with the Disability Support Service, you can email your Disability Advisor (as detailed on your LENS report)

All society activity on campus is suspended until the University reopens. The SocsBox is contactable by email:

 All classes paid for in advance, which do not take place, are refundable and will be processed when the office reopens.Society Award Application deadline now extended to March 23rd and can be completed online. Winners will be announced on March 30th if the College has reopened.
The Societies Awards Ball is rescheduled for September 17th ALIVE and Society Leadership Award applications are accessible via and/or and will be administered remotely.

 Student Health Unit

The Student Health Service provides medical care to registered students of the university in a professional, courteous, and confidential manner.

For any students who have pending appointments scheduled with the Student Health Unit in the coming weeks, our staff will be making contact with you and endeavouring to assist/facilitate you in whatever way that we can.  To support those in our community most in need of assistance and to maintain the health and wellbeing of our frontline colleagues, details of the exceptional availability of the health unit for advice and support are given here
